Two more podiums for Samsung Yamaha

Two more podiums for Samsung Yamaha

A week after stepping on to the podium at Farleigh Castle, Neville Bradshaw made it two podiums in a week, this time at the Red Bull Pro Nationals at Canada Heights over the weekend and was a whisker within climbing on the top spot, just a point separating the top three. Sunny Thompson backed him up in the Rookie class who notched up enough points for second overall.

Pro MX2

The large crowd was attracted to Canada Heights to witness the countries top riders battle it out with the MX1 and MX2 machines combined to make for some interesting racing and the Samsung Yamaha was in tenth on the opening lap before hitting the rear wheel of Gordon Crockard and going down early on. He soon was back in the swing and such was the pace up front it was always going to be a tough ask of moving up to the leaders and eventually settled for 11th place finish but was 5th best MX2 machine.
Race two and this time no mistakes for Bradshaw as he again gated just inside the top ten and fifth MX2 but had the bit between his teeth and was relishing the tough track conditions. After a few laps he was up in into fifth place in the race and leading MX2 rider and the Samsung Yamaha was looking good and in control of the MX2 class taking the win at the chequered flag for third overall on the day.

Rookies

The Rookie class was held over two days with five races in total and in the business end of the season, it was important series leader Sunny Thompson rode a smart weekend of racing, to keep championship rivals at bay.
The three races on the Saturday he did just that by posting a two-four-two scorecard with some close, exciting racing in the process. Thompson came out fighting on Sunday morning by winning the first race of the day and putting in a third place finish in race five, giving the Samsung Yamaha youngster second overall and keeping hold the championship lead by 22 points with two rounds remaining at Foxhills on Sept 4th/5th and Wakes Colne, two weeks later Sept 18th/19th.

Its now back to British Championship action this coming weekend at Silverstone where Bradshaw will be looking to keep up his strong form going, with hopefully another podium.

It’s unbelievable to think that we are almost coming to the end of the 2010 motocross season.
As always the gossip of who has a ride and who has not is in full flow I thought I would spare a bit of this gossip true or false?

First of all its fact that after a promising and very successful start as a rookie in the GP world, Factory KTM MX2 rider Jeffery Herlings will now sit out the rest of the season to let a shoulder injury recover. After a stylish and impressive third in moto one at Locket last weekend, Herlings went into the second moto running third in the world championship but was pushing a little too hard and crashed out damaging the shoulder. After a second medical opinion it was discovered that the injury was more serious then a simple dislocation. And the KTM team made the decision to pull Herlings out to let the shoulder recover ready for next year.

Congratulations to Scott Elderfeild on taking the British masters MX2 Championship at Hawkstone Park. Our very own Pulse Racing DB Honda pilot of Elliot Banks Brown was 1st overall on the day and won the second Moto by a huge Eleven seconds.

Bye the way check out the hot new kid on the block riding a Pulse racing DB Honda, Tom Kelly
has put in some superb Performances in the schoolboy world and I reckon he has got what it takes.

SO A QUICK WHO'S IN AND WHO'S OUT.

OUT!
Kevin Stribos
Marc De Ruver
Ken De Dyker

IN!
Tommy Searle back in Europe and riding USA super cross
Steven Clarke to race full GP season Martin Honda or Factory TM?
Zach Osborne staying put.

Don’t forget this is only hearsay at the moment.

As we look forward to a return to Farleigh Castle this weekend don’t forget for those of you good old fashioned scramble fans the Ken Hall Trophy at Langrish August Bank Holiday.

Three pieces of bad news before we get stuck into this week's round up.
Firstly, Yamaha wonderkid Josh Hill has had a serious accident - Ryan Dungey's former amateur rival was practising backflips for the X Games but had to eject mid-flip - he landed away from his bike but broke his pelvis and leg and caused some internal injuries. Secondly, the recently crash-prone Max Anstie had a big one in practice for Washougal and is currently in hospital having his spleen monitored. And thirdly, Chad Reed has pulled out of the remainder of the AMA Nationals with Epstein-Barr - although he'd probably still be winning if he was in Europe.
Once the stars stopped crashing there was some racing to be done - at Foxhill for the British champs.
Round five of the ACU Maxxiss British champion ship took place at the famous Foxhill Circuit near Swindon.
In the MX1 class it was CAS Honda rider Evegny Bobryshev That took the overall victory with a second and two wins from CCM rider Steven Sword and Aprilla mounted Josh Coppins.
Steven Sword gave the new CCM team their first win in 33 years with a classy race one win.
Bobryshev took race two and three ahead of Reigning champ Brad Anderson and Swordy. Ando had a mixed day and lost out on an overall position to Josh Coppins.
It seems that Steven Sword has recovered from injury now lets see him back on the GP scene.
The 250 class was all about Jake Nicholls, the KTM UK star sort of mimicking Bobryshev's performance with a 1-1-2 to take the overall by a clear margin ahead of Scott Elderfield and Zach Osborne. American Osborne had an off day by his stellar standards - not helped by a monster crash in qualifying - but took victory in the last race to pinch the final podium step ahead of Neville Bradshaw and Bryan MacKenzie.

Bradshaw narrowly misses podium on return from injury: Samsung Yamaha race report - Foxhills

Neville Bradshaw narrowly misses podium on return from injury

Samsung Yamaha were back to full strength over the weekend, as the second half of the British Championship series kicked off at the famous Foxhills circuit. The spectacular track was in prime condition and the large crowd that gathered witnessed some hot race action on a warm muggy day.
With the welcome return of Neville Bradshaw after injury, he looked like we was back to his best in the offset, qualifying in second in Q1 and in the super pole managed to get fourth best pick on the start gate. Sunny Thompson qualified in 17th and in MX1 Ben LaMay made super pole by qualifying in sixth and gained a couple of places in super pole by posting fourth fastest in a quality field of riders.

MX2

The MX2 class kicked off the days proceedings and as they dropped down into the valley first time round, Bradshaw made use of a good start and was in second chasing Jake Nicholls for the lead for the early laps and in turn had Scott Elderfield for company. As the race progressed only a few seconds covered the leading trio and Bradshaw and Elderfield trades places on several occasions and the Samsung Yamaha finished a fine third. A little further down the order and just inside the points, Sunny Thompson added four points to his season tally in 17th.
Sunny crashed on the opening lap in race two and was way down on the pack, but up front Bradshaw was running top five in the early exchanges and moved past Pocock into fourth with the leaders not too far ahead. Bradshaw was putting in some strong lap times and halfway through made a pass on Elderfield into third, which he made his own at the flag. Thompson this time could not make the points finishing in 24th.
Bradshaw needed a solid last race to make sure of a podium and was down in 10th on the opening lap, with work to do and was making steady progress picking up a place a lap in the early laps and soon into fifth and looking good enough for second overall until the last lap he was taken down by Elderfield putting the Samsung Yamaha on the floor. He recovered to finish 10th at the flag for fourth overall, good but disappointing in Bradshaw’s eyes.

MX1

Ben LaMay was in ninth in race one from the off and was looking solid moving up the order on the first couple of laps into seventh but then made hard work for himself getting past another rider for much of the race which allowed the leaders to pull out a gap and by the time LaMay made his move with three laps to go it was too late to make anymore progress and finished sixth.
Race two the Samsung Yamaha crashed on the first corner and was a country mile behind the pack and with the shorter races it was always going to be hard to pull through the pack but try he did and managed to scrape a couple of points in 19th.
The final race of the day saw LaMay just inside the top ten and as they came round the opening lap he caught the back end of Brad Anderson and LaMay went down, twisting his bars in the process. After getting them straightened out, again he was way down on the pack and like the previous race he could only race back to an eventual 19th.
Red Bull Pro Nationals - Pontrilas - Round up
13/07/2010
news_image
Finally the UK is getting the weather that actually warrants it being called summer! It’s been hot recently and so has the action at the Red Bull Pro Nationals and round six this weekend at Pontrilas was much of the same!

The beautiful Howton Court circuit etched into the hillside just outside of Pontrilas in Herefordshire looked every bit the part as the MC Federation once again rolled in with an array of colour to give the place that real sense of event. They had their work cut out with track preparations this time out though. We may well be getting some decent tanning and beach weather but with it comes dry land and the Howton Court circuit needed thousands of gallons of water to keep the dust down and generate a good racing circuit, good job the race got on before a hose pipe ban! Intensive watering started a few days before the event and the first few dousings just seemed to disappear in no time as the track soaked it up like a sponge. It was almost drought like conditions.
Luckily the same cannot be said about the action in the Red Bull Pro Nationals of late as we’ve been spoilt with a prolonged downpour of the best racing action this country has seen for a good few years. With the pros, the Fuchs-Silkolene 2 Stroke British championship and the Red Bull Elite Youth Cup all thrown together over two days of action the Red Bull Pro Nationals are definitely changing the face of British motocross and Pontrilas proved that yet again.

The Suzuki MX experience had a steady stream of youngsters having their first taste of what it’s like to ride a dirt bike after watching other kids their age banging bars and tearing around the flowing hillside circuit. If that’s wasn’t enough of a buzz for the families and kids new to motocross then the Red Bull X Fighters Jams tour certainly left them wanting more. Chris Brock, Frog and Chris Birch laid on another belting display of skill as they flipped and whipped (literally) the crowd up ready for the Red Bull Pro races that followed.

To be fair the fans were already buzzing from the earlier Fuchs-Silkolene 2 stroke and Red Bull Elite Youth Cup races, especially those that witnessed some great racing on the Saturday. Ben Lamay took the opportunity to race a 250 2 stroke for the first time in the UK and did so in convincing style to take the overall in the Open 2 stroke class with two race wins and a second on his Samsung Yamaha. It was great to see Lamay pit his wits against the regular 2 stroke lads and by the last moto Scott Elderfield had got his act together on his PAR Honda and had something for Lamay as he took the final moto of the day and with it second overall. Third on the box was the defending 3 time champion Mark Eastwood on his Wiseco/Eastwood Honda. There’s not much to say about Easty that hasn’t already been said! Yet again he rode brilliantly and showed all his experience to extend his championship lead over James Noble (Proppa.com Honda). Although he desperately wanted to beat Lamay and Elderfield he knew they are no real threat in the title hunt and didn’t do anything stupid to leave Pontrilas still holding the championship leader red plate.

The Open Juniors were at it again as they fought out their championship a little further down the line from the super fast Expert riders. Corey Nemeth rolled out a Honda this time out (maybe he has a fleet of 2 strokes in his workshop?!) and blasted his way round for three straight moto wins to take the overall. Jason Kendrick (KTM) didn’t have any answers for him on this occasion but did have the speed to hold of Tim Burrows on his Suzuki and nail down second place and open up a 62 point lead ahead of Daniel Ward.

The kids of the Red Bull Elite Youth Cup almost rode the wheels off their bikes at Pontrilas. It was a fast track for the smaller bikes and the lads were getting everything out of their equipment, especially the 65cc riders! After five hard fought races it was Ryan Vickers on his Cobra who went back to back to take his second overall victory on the year, but it was so close and all hinged on the last race. Taylor Hammal couldn’t hide his disappointment on the podium after he crashed with a few laps to go and lost his chance for the overall as he dropped down to third. Second, again, went to Keenan Hird who continues to prove consistency pays as he still leads the series by a healthy 78 points without taking an overall win so far this year! The boy is silk smooth and rides so smart, and that’s why he’s leading the way.

Ryan Vickers #193 and Taylor Hammal #23, along with Keenan Hird took it right down to the wire in the 65cc class

The small wheel class was equally as up and down. In the end it was a well and certainly hard earned first overall win for Todd Kellett. He certainly made it hard for himself after crashing in the last moto he fought from way down the field to take the overall ahead of local rider Danny Lanfear who rode great. The pair of Suzuki riders seem to never be far apart, like their bikes are magnetic or something! Gradie Featherstone rounded out on the podium with a solid performance even though he didn’t seem so naturally at home on the Howton Court circuit as much as he did at Whitby. Lanfear did enough to leave with the red plate after previous series leader Conrad Mewse could only manage fifth overall.

The big wheeled class got blown wide open at Pontrilas as series leader Ben Howell went out on the Sunday with a broken collarbone. The rider he made contact with in the incident, James Harrison (Twisted 7 Honda) took full advantage to take his first overall win of the year and with it the championship lead. Harrison hasn’t been off the podium all year and he shares that stat with Ben Watson on the HM Plant/Red Bull KTM but this time Watson only managed third overall despite looking incredibly fast and taking three moto wins. Like Howell he also suffered bad luck with bike problems. Liam Garland got back on track with a solid second overall on his Proppa.com Honda and now has a chance to catch Howell and move into third in the series behind Harrison and Watson.

It was a good time for film maker Alex Rankin to focus on the Rookie class for Red Bull’s ‘Dirt Rats’ video series as they laid on yet more aggressive racing and it was also a good time for Poole Yamaha’s Jake Shipton who also took his first overall victory of the season. Shipton’s team were desperate for a race win over the weekend. It never came but what did was a superb display of consistency with a 2-2-2-3-2 scorecard and a very popular overall win. Sunny Thompson took the second spot with another professional like performance on his Samsung Yamaha and did enough to stretch his series lead out by another solitary point over Lewis Trickett on his 250 2 stroke Suzuki. Trickett was on fire on Sunday just as he was at Whitby but just can’t seem to get his act together on Saturday’s!

Jake Shipton didn't win a moto but finally came good for a well earned overall in the Rookie class!

The Fuchs-Silkolene 125cc British championship riders rolled out onto a well soaked track on Sunday to cut the lines for the day and Kiwi racer Kayne Lamont laid down his attentions for the day setting the quickest time in qualifying on his Suzuki GB ride. It was the New Zealander’s first ever Fuchs-Silkolene event and he got straight down to business as he won the opening moto to back it up, and he was even racing the Rookie class too! Series leader David Willet proved why they call him ‘Iron Man’ in the second moto though as he wore down Kayne to take that one but he had no answers for the Kiwi in the final moto as he roped away with the win, the overall and more annoyingly for Willet £300 more than him as he exasperated on the podium. Defending champion Jim Davies proved why he has the #1 on his TM with an incredibly gutsy display as he rode through the pain of severe ankle and foot ligament damage and possibly broken bones after getting his foot caught in Will Worden’s wheel in the Open class the day before. After going to hospital he came back to ride and actually had to use crutches to get on the podium. Fair play to Jim on some good old fashion grit!!

Charles Statt has been so dominate in the Junior class and Pontrilas was no different, although he didn’t take all three moto wins this time out. Ben Thompson was flying in the first moto as he duked it out with the Expert front runners, later admitting it probably took more out of him than he’d of liked. Still it was a great performance and helped him to second overall. Third went to Corey Nemeth who couldn’t double up and add a 125 win to his Open class victory from the previous day. He may showed grit too though, maybe not as much as Davies though!

Talking of grit, that’s exactly what you get from Brad Anderson and he proved it once again as he put a stop to the rot and Ben Lamay’s charge to take a convincing 1-1 victory in the Red Bull Pro Nationals MX1 class. Ando and his PAR Honda were definitely back to their best on a track that by Brad’s own admission suits his style better and he made it show as he extended his lead out to 36 points as Lamay seemed to suffer with a 6-8 score, maybe due to over extending himself the day before on the 2 stroke? Lamay may well have been off the pace he’s shown in the last month but two riders who weren’t and were just glad to be out there racing were the Buildbase CCM teammates of Stephen Sword and Tom Church. Both have had a nightmare season with injuries and viruses but they proved they are always a serious threat for race wins when fit. Church, who has been off a bike for some time, returned with a second overall after tying with his teammate but due to his stronger second moto finish behind Anderson got the verdict. Neither were really a match for Anderson though as he romped to the win.

Ando wanted to get back to winning ways at Pontrilas - he did in emphatic style!

Anderson’s PAR Honda teammate Martin Barr no doubt had been thinking about his mechanical DNF at Whitby that allowed Elliott Banks-Browne to get the points gap down to 6 as they came into Pontrilas. It was enough to motivate him to another brilliant performance as he also went 1-1 to make it clean sweep for the Honda team. EBB pushed him all the way and was a little disgruntled as he took the second spot on the podium but the Pulse Racing DB Honda rider knows the series is far from over with only 12 point separating them and will keep fighting . As if PAR Honda hadn’t had a good enough weekend as it was, Scott Elderfield took the final spot on the podium with a 3-4 result after swapping his 250 2 stroke from Saturday to the 250 4 stroke for Sunday.

All Rise, Court in Session

Martin Barr suffered a mechanical DNF last time out and had his lead slashed at the top of the MX2 standings.

Following on from two back to back rounds at Silverstone and Whitby the Red Bull Pro Nationals move to Howton Court, Pontrilas this weekend for round six of the championship. As Whitby proved with a healthy crowd the Red Bull Pro Nationals, which also incorporate the Fuchs-Silkolene 2 Stroke championship and Red Bull Elite Youth Cup are really capturing the imagination of the British public as well as the more hardened motocross fans and Pontrilas looks to set to be no different.

If anything round six will be better still with some World championship regulars rejoining the fray and battling it out in the combined MX1/MX2 races now that the GP’s take a break for the month. The HM Plant/Red Bull KTM UK team will be back in force with their two GP riders of Jake Nicholls and Graeme Irwin joining their youth teammates Ben and Nathan Watson to try and take the honours on the sweeping Howton Court circuit. Nicholls took the opening round MX2 victory at Foxhill, tying on points with Pulse Racing DB Honda’s Elliott Banks-Browne before setting his sights on the GP’s and he’ll be keen to re-enter the series and win again.

Either way the battle at the top of the MX1 class is going to rumble on. Brad Anderson (PAR Honda) extended his lead at Whitby and put an end to Ben Lamay’s (Samsung Yamaha) surge as he was closing in for the championship lead. The gap is now back out to 14 points and Anderson knows he’s in a battle with the American. James Noble (Proppa.com Honda) showed a return to form at Whitby with a race win and second overall to sit a relatively healthy 31 points ahead of last year’s champion Carl Nunn on his MVR-D Suzuki. With the likes of Stephen Sword (Buildbase CCM),Gordon Crockard (Paul Bird Kawasaki), Jason Dougan (Phoenix Tools/Bike it/Cosworth Yamaha) Nathan Parker (Proppa.com Honda) and Kert Kristinov (Maxxis/Henderson/LPE Kawasaki) all more than capable to race wins whilst dicing it with the MX2 riders it’s always exciting.

Martin Barr (PAR Honda) had his lead slashed by Elliott Banks-Browne at Whitby after a mechanical DNF and now only has a six point lead at the top. Maxxis/Henderson/LPE Kawasaki’s Kristian Whatley only sits 40 points off the lead in third, while Bryan Mackenzie (Horseman Kawasaki), who had a stinker at Whitby will be keen to go one better on his second place at Canada Heights and get back on track. Scott Elderfield is always a threat as he proved with second place overall at Whitby but is out of the championship after missing the opening three rounds. TM’s Stuart Edmonds has been on good form of late and could make his first podium.

In the Fuchs-Silkolene 2 stroke British Open class defending three time champion Mark Eastwood is doing it again and leads the way by 26 points over James Noble on his 500cc Proppa.com Honda who took the overall win at Whitby. Noble’s teammate Nathan Parker holds down third and has the speed to win. Scott Elderfield took two moto wins and really got stuck in at the last round as did Stuart Edmonds and yet again the 2 strokes produced some brilliant tight racing so expect more of the same this time out.

David Williet (Bladez Yamaha) dominated the 125cc class at Whitby and now leads the series by 20 points as he really starts to look strong and full recovered from last year’s knee injury. Fast starting James Dunn (Suzuki) offered some early resistance to Willet and will be doing his best to be stronger as the race goes on. Defending champion Jim Davies (TM) sits third in the series but only one point behind Dunn and is still in striking distance for a repeat title. Luke Remmer (Maxxis/Henderson/LPE Kawasaki) is a further 44 points back and more than capable of winning as he’s show already this year.

The racing laid on by the kids of the Red Bull Elite Youth Cup has been so intense and that’s bound to continue at Pontrilas. Sunny Thompson took the overall and the series lead in the Rookie class at Whitby on his Samsung Yamaha and took full advantage of Bradley Pocock’s (Bike it/Cosworth Yamaha) absence with a broken leg. Lewis Trickett dominated Sunday at Whitby to take second overall and in the series as Jake Shipton (Poole Yamaha) also moved past Pocock into third. Ben Howell (KTM) took another overall with a consistent performance to extend his lead in the Big Wheeled class over Ben Watson who struggled with starts at the previous round and rounded out the podium. James Harrison (Twisted 7 Honda) was the fastest man at Whitby but a rear wheel puncture cost him the shot at the overall and he sits 71 points behind Howell. In the Small Wheeled class last year’s 65cc champion Conrad Mewse (KTM) capitalised on previous series leader Oliver Osmaston’s unfortunate trampoline injury and now holds a 13 point lead over Danny Lanfear (Suzuki) who took his first ever RBEYC overall win last time out. Josh Gilbert (Albion KTM) and Todd Kellett also did enough to move past Osmaston. Keenan Hird (KTM) still has a healthy 75 point lead in the 65cc class even though he has yet to win an overall so far this year! Hird has yet to be off the podium with three seconds and a third overall last time out. Ryan Vickers (Cobra) took his first overall win at Whitby to move past Drew Warren into third in the series. Taylor Hammal (KTM) couldn’t make it a hat-trick of overalls and had to settle for second but will no doubt want to get back to winning ways at Pontrilas.

So with so many battles in so many classes the Red Bull Pro Nationals at Pontrilas this weekend aren’t to be missed, especially with the Red Bull X Fighters Jams Tour doing their freestyle demos, the Suzuki MX experience, the Jumbo TV screen showing live links and the F1 and. Of course, the regular Saturday night party!

The Howton Court circuit will be AA signposted on the A465, right on the English/Welsh border. Postcode HR2 0BG

Practice starts at 9am on both Saturday and Sunday. Elite Youth Cup and Open 2 stroke riders race on Saturday with the remaining Elite Youth Cup, 125cc 2 stroke and Pro races on Sunday.
EBB shines at sunny Whitby - Red Bull Pro Nationals

The fifth round of the Red Bull Pro Nationals really were a scorcher, not only was the weather hot but the racing too. The Whitby Motocross club’s Skelder Bank circuit is one of the premier prepared tracks in the country with a beautiful setting to match, perched upon the hills overlooking the town of Whitby and the North Sea, and yet again it didn’t disappoint.
The Whitby club and the MC Federation track crew worked tirelessly to soak the track the best they could with the sprinkler system that the club have installed and did a great job considering the area hasn’t had an serious downpours of rain since the beginning of April and the brilliant weekend weather!

The sun and warm wind may have had the track crew and competitors working hard but it made for a great weekend for the fans with some awesome racing from the Red Bull Elite Youth, Fuchs-Silkolene 2 Stroke British championship and Red Bull Pro Nationals riders. If that wasn’t enough, there was, as always the Suzuki MX experience for those spectators taking in the sport for the first time and the Saturday night party where London based rock band ‘Feral Sun’ rocked the place so much they were limited on their set because they were scaring the cows in the nearby fields....that’s rock n’ roll.....and so was the racing!

The Fuchs-Silkolene 2 stroke Open racers didn’t ride Silverstone due to time constraints on the busy weekend schedule based around the Moto GP but they were back to action on Saturday at Whitby and back with a bang. Local ace and Whitby MX club member James Noble started as favourite and justified it by taking the overall on his big 500cc Proppa.com Honda. Noble took the first race and followed that up with two seconds in the next two outings to Scott Elderfield who if it wasn’t for a disappointing first race fifth no doubt had the speed for the overall. Series leader Mark Eastwood used all of his experience to grab another podium and only drop six points to Noble to maintain a 26 point lead at the top of the table. George Foames took the win in the juniors with a 2-1-1 score ahead of series leader Jason Kendrick who stretched out his lead to 33 points in the series over Shayne Headon who took the final place on the podium.

The kids of the Red Bull Elite Youth Cup put on a hell of show on Saturday alongside the Open 2 stroke riders. Their three races were incident packed with what seemed sure fire race winners throwing it away or having bad luck and Sunday pretty much brought about much of the same in their remaining two motos. In the 65cc class Cobra’s Ryan Vickers took just one out of five possible race wins but rode smart, kept it on two wheels and took the overall ahead of Taylor Hammal on his KTM. Hammal was coming into Whitby off the back of two consecutive overalls but had to be content with second this time out. Keenan Hird nailed down third and still maintains the series lead by 78 points over Hammal as the series swing at the halfway stage.

In the Small Wheeled class Gradie Featherstone looked unstoppable on his KTM after topping qualifying and taking the first two races but then with a healthy lead in the third moto he threw it away big style as his bike cart wheeled off the track and over the fence resulting in a DNF. He went out and got another win and a second the next day but it was only enough to give him third overall and proved the point that consistency pays. As proved by Danny Lanfear on his Suzuki who took his first ever and well earned and RBEYC overall win. It didn’t end there for Danny who had a great weekend as he also took home the red plate for leading the series and also was awarded the Fox Boot camp award after impressing the guys from Fox Europe who came out in force for their local race. Danny is now one of eight riders who’ll be in for a shout of winning a full supported ride from Fox for 2011 come the end of the year. Second place went to the gritty Todd Kellett who is getting ever closer to taking his first ever win like Lanfear. The two of them battled all weekend and if it wasn’t for a losing his goggles in the first race and a bike problem in the fourth moto the 14 point gap may have be closer.

The Big Wheeled class was much the same. Series leader Ben Howell (KTM) was super consistent picking up two wins and three seconds to take the overall and extend his championship lead. Howell was right there to pick up the pieces when James Harrison (Twisted 7 Honda) collected a rear puncture in the second moto and went down costing him the win and a shot at the overall. Harrison was flying all weekend and then went out and picked up another two wins and a third but the damage was done. Third went to Ben Watson on his HM Plant/Red Bull KTM who paid the price for some mid pack starts off the concrete after setting the quickest qualifying time.

All the front runners in the Rookie class knew they had the chance to close in on Bradley Pocock who is out with a broken leg and it was Sunny Thompson on his Samsung Yamaha who took full advantage as he took a hard fought overall victory and with it the series lead. It was close though as he tied on points with George Baldwin (Wiseco/Eastwood Honda) and took it on a tie breaker. What a weekend for Baldwin it was though, seemingly coming from nowhere to take his first ever RBEYC race win and then follow it up with another one later that day. He then had two thirds and second and was a little disappointed knowing a mistake in the last race cost him. Third place went to Lewis Trickett who didn’t take full advantage of Pocock’s absence and struggled on Saturday but woke up on Sunday in determined mood to take both motos.

By the time the pros took to the track the crowd had swelled and they weren’t left disappointed (unlike the football that was shown on the big screen later in the day). Yet again the motocross stars delivered the goods with some brilliant racing. Series leader Brad Anderson (PAR Honda) came into the weekend saying he had to stem the flow that Ben Lamay (Samsung Yamaha) had going and he did that, as did Elliott Banks Browne (DB Racing Honda) with Martin Barr’s (PAR Honda) surge at the front of the MX2 class. Anderson took the overall going 2-2 to claw back some of the points that the American Lamay had been eating away at his lead. It was local hero James Noble (Proppa.com Honda) who got the real good time feel going as he wore down his teammate Nathan Parker and made a break in the first moto to take a very popular win. Lamay was way down the field after a first lap crash but ripped through the field and by the flag fell he was up to fifth. Gordon Crockard also came way down the field in that first moto to grab a very creditable third with arms, according to him, like Popeye after chronic arm pump.

Further down the field in seventh Elliott Banks Browne fought off the challenge of Scott Elderfield (PAR Honda) after series leader Martin Barr had a mechanical DNF on lap one. It was a solid performance from EBB and he took full advantage of Barr’s misfortune. Barr’s other teammate Luke Hawkins methodically worked his way up to 11th to be the third MX2 rider home as the entire pack seemed to squabble for positions the whole race.

Lamay wasn’t messing about in the second moto as he flew out of the traps, quickly got into the lead and was never headed to the flag. Anderson took second however he wasn’t the PAR Honda rider who pushed Lamay for two thirds of the race. That was Martin Barr who was determined to make up for the disappointment of the first moto DNF and was looking to be the first MX2 rider to win the entire race. In the end he didn’t quite have enough to challenge Lamay or at least thought better and took second and a convincing MX2 race win. Anderson was a lonely third in the race but second in the MX1 with Gert Krestinov a solid third on his Maxxis/Henderson/LPE Kawasaki as he starts to get to grips with British motocross and his new team. Noble battled through to fifth in the race but it wasn’t enough for the overall win and he had to be content with second overall with Lamay rounding out the podium. EBB once again battled it out with Elderfield a little further down the field as the next two MX2 riders in eight and ninth respectively which was enough to see them first and second on the podium ahead of Hawkins who did enough to fend off Kristian Whatley (Maxxis/Henderson/LPE Kawasaki by one point to round out the MX2 podium.

Dave Willett (Bladez Yamaha) was unstoppable in the Fuchs-Silkolene 125cc championship as he stormed to three convincing race wins to extend his lead at the top of the table. Fast starting James Dunn (Suzuki) did his best to fend him off but just couldn’t match him for the duration of the race. Defending champion Jim Davies (TM) seemed to get better as the weekend went on as he went 4-3-2 to take third overall. Charles Statt continues to dominate the juniors on Kawasaki with a three more wins stretching out his championship lead in the progress. Cory Nemeth did his best to hold onto him but had his hands full with Ashley Crossley as they went second and third behind Statt.
Whitby really was a belter of a weekend and now all eyes turn to Pontrilas on the 10/11th July for the next round of the Red Bull Pro Nationals, Fuchs-Silkolene 2 stroke British championship and Red Bull Elite Youth Cup. Make sure you are there to see it!

Jamie Law holeshots ahead of Elliott Banks Browne at last year's Red Bull Pro Nationals at Pontrilas. Will he do it again this year? Be there to find out!

After plenty of speculation as to where round 6 of the Red Bull Pro Nationals are to be held the MCF can now announce that Pontrilas will hold the round on the 10/11th July. The following seventh round on the 7/8th of August was scheduled for Pontrilas right on the English/Welsh border but now the MCF have decided to pull that date forward to give them a little more time to secure another circuit. This obviously leaves the round 7 date open and a venue for this will be announced in due course.

The entries for the Red Bull Pro Nationals, Fuchs-Silkolene 2 stroke British championship and Red Bull Elite Youth Cup fill up fast so anyone wanting to race round 6 at Pontrilas go to the entries pages of this site or alternatively call the MCF office on 01865 343666 or email secretary@mcfederation.com to get yourself booked in.

PULSE RACING DB HONDA’S ELLIOTT BANKS-BROWNE HEADS FOR SILVERSTONE.

After some frustrating weeks with a plaster cast on Elliott Banks-Browne (EBB) is starting to get back to speed. I caught up with him this week for a chat just as he was heading for Silverstone for the Red Bull Championship round that for the First time ever is to be run at the famous Silverstone road race circuit on the same week end as Moto GP.
.

CWJ
Elliott how is it going?

EBB.
Well, I had the operation on my ankle and have spent three weeks in a cast which has been frustrating. But I rode at Lyng and although I am still in pain I collected some good
Points.

CWJ.
You were running second in race one at one point.

EBB.
That’s right and for a couple of laps I felt good but caught my leg and the pain from the ankle was bad so had to ease off a bit.

CWJ.
You have tested on the new Silverstone track what do you reckon?

EBB.
Its awesome the first time I rode it it was a bit muddy and not quite right, but this week it is good very good!

CWJ.
It looks a bit supercross.

EBB,

No Chris its typical modern motocross it has big jumps good soil and is going to be fast. I am really looking forward to it.

CWJ.
No bomb holes then?

EBB.
How old are you?

CWJ.
Obviously very old.
CWJ,

We at Pulse Racing wish you good luck for the weekend. I will call you next week for an update.

EBB.

Later Mate.
No Stopping French Marvel Marvin Musquin and Philippaerts Back on Top

The sun was boiling hot and the track looked amazing but unfortunately behind the scenes things were not good! On Saturday the action had to be delayed due to the track not being up to Youth stream and FIM standards. After a few harsh words from Race Director Dave Nicoll the action got under way.

The French wonder kid Marvin Musquin was again unstoppable in the MX2 class and gave the twenty thousand plus spectators a real thrill as they loudly urged the kid to two straight wins.

Joel Roelants was the surprise runner up on the hard pack of St Jean D’Angely. Both races had mixed results, moto 1 was wet and sticky but in moto 2 the sun appeared once again which helped the riders back into the groove including our own Shaun Simpson who chased Musquin for the complete race and finished in an impressive second and fourth overall for the day.
To the delight for Bike it Cosworth’s Steve Dixon Zach Osborne made it onto the podium for the second week running with a superb third overall.

Italian David Philippaerts returned to winning form and took the overall win with a brilliant second moto first place. Cairoli who had won the first moto took second overall
with Clement Desalle in third. Antonio Cairoli still leads the MX1 Championship by 68 points. Desalle moves up to second after leap frogging the now injured Max Nagl.

Again at the French GP there was no British representation in the MX1 class i find this amazing that none of our boys fancied there chances over in France come on boys what’s going on?

Antonio Cairoli in the MX1 class and Marvin Musquin in the MX2 took victory at this successful USA Grand Prix comeback to Glen Helen Raceway, hosting the hottest Grand Prix of the year so far with high temperatures all over the weekend.
Cairoli, who won heat one despite a broken gear lever, topped the podium from home rider Mike Alessi and Clement Desalle. The Italian continues to lead the MX1 Championship.

MX1
Red Bull KTM Factory Racing MX1’s Cairoli took an incredible victory of this USA Grand Prix by winning moto one and taking third in moto two. What the fans will remember is surely the Italian’s performance in heat one, when he was leading until he broke the gear lever of his KTM 350 SX-F. Alessi took the chance to move past and get the lead but a gusty Cairoli made it back to first and took victory despite his bike being stuck in third gear.

Jägermeister Factory KTM’s Alessi, also onboard the KTM 350, was second overall. After taking second in moto one, the American battled it out with Cairoli for third but eventually dropped down to fourth after passing the Italian several times.

Desalle of Rockstar Teka Suzuki made his comeback to the podium courtesy of third overall. The Belgian was fifth in moto one but made up for that in moto two where he took a solid second place behind winner Townley . The New Zealander showed that he is very much back to speed, but race one was a race to forget after crashing twice he eventually had to pull out.
After a third place in moto one, Nagl crashed in moto two and did not score points. The runner up in the Championship has now a gap of 41 points from leader Cairoli.

MX2

There was no one that was going to bother Factory KTM Rider Marvin Musquin.
Musquin won his qualifying heat took two hole shots, and brought home the win in both motos. The French star is now leading the championship and on this performance no one will catch him. Following Musquin home in race one was Kawasaki rider Steven Frossard with Teka Suzuki youngster Ken Roczen in third.

Race two was full of drama as the strong winds that had wrecked the track earlier in the GP where so strong that the giant Red Bull arch came down landing on one of the riders. This resulted in the race being red flagged and with only five minutes remaining of the race the result stood and there was no re-run. Marvin Musquin took the win but in second place it was British based American Zach Osborne That powered his Cosworth Yamaha across the line to the delight of team boss Steve Dixon .Our very own Shaun Simpson took third and he now stands 5th overall in the championship.
Jake Nicholls Again got two top ten rides to the delight of his team boss Roger Magee.
Young Max Anstie struggled all weekend and looked like the pressure of his first World Championship had taken its toll on his confidence.

The pressure is on for the teams now as they have to ship all the crates back to Europe
And on to the French GP this weekend. I am glad I am not a mechanic.

USGP report from Chris Warren Jnr.
27/05/2010

US GP 2010.

Only three days to go until we see that age old battle commence between the Europe and the USA. As I write this preview I am waiting for Chris Warren Snr.(my Dad) to touch down on the Youthstream plane and ring me with the latest hot gossip. He works for Youthstream and met up with Paul Malin at Heathrow then flew to Paris to board the Youthstream plane along with all the official’s and Youthstream team. Rest assured as I hear it you will.

Well back with what we know. One of the most anticipated show downs of the season has got to be the one between Cairoli and Mike Alessi. These two Factory KTM riders are good friends off the track so much so that Cairoli has been staying at Mike’s house while over in the States. On the track that friendship will be put aside as these two riders both want to prove that they are the best big bike riders in the world and under the KTM awning.
The orange army will also have Max Nagal and he will poke his head inside the top three for sure. As I said last week Ben Townley will be making his Grand Prix return, and hot of the press is that ex GP rider Grant Langston has been confirmed as a starter for the American round, this really is going to be a superb spectacle and I am sure the Americans will do it bigger and better then anyone else.

Another aspect of this weekend’s Grand Prix of Unites States is the fact Tommy Searle -another KTM rider- came within inches of winning the opening moto of the Lites/MX2 class. The British rider led the last lap before being passed by Frenchman Christophe Pourcel for the moto win. Searle showed enough to give the impression that he is in good form and his battle with Marvin Musquin, Jeffrey Herlings and Ken Roczen might be the highlight of the weekend.
The rider who’s results I am most eagerly anticipating is Max Anstie. This kid could throw a few spanners in the works watch this space.

Well I will have another glass of wine and wait for Chris Snr to ring, over and out .

Ben Townley gets ready to go Outdoors
20/05/2010

2004 World MX2 Champion Ben Townley is really looking forward to the coming weeks. After finishing with 2-1 results in last weekend’s National 4-stroke race at the Glen Helen circuit the New Zealander felt his speed was still there and he can start to build on what will be an important year for him.
Now fully fit after recovering from six weeks off the bike with a groin injury Townley knows his condition isn't what is should be, but he wants to go top five at the opening round of the AMA Nationals this coming weekend and then go to the Unites States Grand Prix on May 30 with a real chance to race with the likes of Antonio Cairoli and Max Nagl in the MX1 class.

Townley also likes the layout of the Glen Helen circuit and expects many of the Grand Prix riders to enjoy the new FIM World Motocross Championship facility.

"The layout is nice, some really nice rollers and a huge jump out the back of the track, of course the big uphill and downhill sections which are really special for this circuit and a few other interesting aspects. It’s a nice circuit for sure."

His performance in a small national race last weekend at the Glen Helen circuit gave him some confidence as he scored some good results despite suffering a flat tyre.

"I was leading the first race last weekend and got a flat tyre, and finished 6th or something, then I won the second moto easy. I felt good, it was a good hit-out."

While Townley remains confident that his race speed will be good, he is a little worried about how his condition will be as the race enters the important period.

"I had 6 weeks off the bike and wanted to do those three Grand Prix's at the start of the year, but it didn't happen. I have only been back in America for a short time, and I know my race condition isn't going to be perfect, but I expect to run with the top GP guys and I like to think I can be top five. My speed is good. The question is going to be how I feel at the tail end of the races, how my condition will play out. I know I am fast enough, that isn't a question, but I don't know how long I will be able to run at the top pace."

Having not raced a Grand Prix for five years Townley knows that he will have his work cut out for him against the likes of Cairoli, Nagl and some of the other leading MX1 riders, but he also knows that in top shape, and with a little luck he will run side by side with the leading Grand Prix riders and that will only bring more interest to what is already going to be a very exciting United States Grand Prix.

Crockard the star at Canada Heights
18/05/2010
news_image
Hot off his race win at the previous Red Bull Pro Nationals round at Landrake Gordon Crockard was certainly the man at round three this weekend at Canada Heights. Crockard rolled back the years with a blistering performance on his Sparshatt’s Kawasaki coming through the pack in both motos to take the overall win.

He certainly made it hard for himself. After closing in on the leading four in the first moto that consisted of Stephen Sword (Buildbase CCM) , Jason Dougan (Phoenix Tools/ Bike it Yamaha) , Ben Lamay (Samsung Yamaha) and Brad Anderson (PAR Honda), Crockard came together with Anderson and they both went down. With only a few laps left it looked the top three was decided but not necessarily in that order, Crockard had other ideas though and put on an incredible charge, rocketing around the famous, rough and knarly circuit nearly three seconds a lap quicker than anyone to amazingly pass the leading three and take the first moto win ahead of Sword, Dougan, Lamay and Anderson.

Further down the field the battle raged in the MX2 class. Martin Barr (PAR Honda) got to work on closing the gap on Elliott Banks-Browne (Pulse / DB Racing Honda) at the top of the championship and rode a smooth and calculated race to be the first MX2 rider over the line. Banks-Browne pushed all he could and he had too as he had Bryan Mackenzie (Horseman’s Kawasaki) keeping him honest. Fellow Kawasaki rider Kristian Whatley (Maxxis/ Henderson/ LPE Kawasaki) and veteran Mark Eastwood (Eastwood/Wiseco Honda) rounded out the top five.

Moto two saw Crockard way, way down the field on the opening lap as American Lamay got to work and gapped the field by a good few seconds by the end of the first lap. Anderson was running a strong second but just couldn’t pull Lamay in. Swordy was running well until he started to slow and retired from the race no doubt suffering from his virus. As the riders went into the last lap Crockard was up to fourth from way down in the 20’s in the opening lap. With the points tied with Lamay for the overall he had to pass Dougan for the outright win and sure enough, just like the first race he made the move that counted on the last lap, took Dougan and with it his first Red Bull Pro Nationals overall!

In the MX2 Martin Barr took another class win to go 1-1 on the day and take over the red plate at the front of the championship from Elliott Banks-Browne who had to settle for third this time out behind Mackenzie who grabbed second in the MX2 race which gave him that position overall. Whatley bagged another fourth while defending champion Neville Bradshaw (Samsung Yamaha) grabbed fifth after a disappointing day.

Round three really did produce some amazing racing and if round four at Silverstone is anything like Canada Heights the Moto GP boys better be on their A game – otherwise they are going to be outshone by the mx boys! What a weekend that’s going to be, so make sure you’re there!
Red Bull Pro Nationals - Canada Heights

With the weather report looking good the third round of the Red Bull Pro Nationals at Canada Heights looks like it’s going to be a cracker. With over 300 riders tearing it up around the famous, rough and knarly hillside circuit in a packed out weekend programme of racing and all of the whistles and bells to boot no doubt the weekend will live up to its ‘festival’ atmosphere.

It all kicks off on Saturday with the Red Bull Elite Youth Cup and Fuchs-Silkolene 2 stroke Open class riders going at it and putting on a show. Once again both of these series are living up to their reputation as the best with some brilliant racing this year and there’s no reason why round three won’t be as good, if not better. Particularly the Open 2 stroke races as Gordon Crockard, Scott Elderfield and Luke Hawkins all join the fray for this round.

The Red Bull Elite Youth Cup riders then take to the track again on Sunday for their two remaining motos and are joined by the Fuchs-Silkolene 125cc riders and the Red Bull Pro riders for the ‘super Sunday’. With the country’s top pro MX1 and MX2 racers mixing it up in the same moto the racing is brilliant to watch with battles going on all down the field as big 450’s riders likes of Brad Anderson, Stephen Sword, Carl Nunn, James Noble, Ben Lamay, Wayne Smith, Kert Krestinov, Scott Elderfield, Alex Snow and Nathan Parker battle with the 250 MX2 riders like Elliott Banks Browne, Martin Barr, Neville Bradshaw, Kristian Whatley, Bryan Mackenzie, Josh Waterman and Mark Eastwood to name but a few. The 125cc Fuchs-Silkolene races never fail to deliver too as they scream around the venue and once again a strong 40 plus line up will be swarming like bees around a honey pot....sweet!

Add the FMX live tour show to that sweet taste and the Saturday night Red Bull Party and it’s a weekend that gives you more than your money’s worth. There’s the giant live feed TV screen, the Suzuki MX experience for those younger kids who have never ridden a dirt bike as the MCF and Suzuki do all they can to get more people into the sport. Basically there plenty going on over a weekend of the best motocross action and atmosphere in the UK. So be part of it!

After the third round of the Maxxis British Championship Chris Warren Jnr. caught up with Pulse Racing/DB Honda rider Elliot Banks-Browne to see how his seasons progressing.

CWJ. How did it go at Duns?

EBB. Yeh it went ok. I am suffering with a knee injury that is causing me discomfort when on the bike but I am glad with the point scoring rides that I got today.
I am due to see a specialist this week to investigate what is wrong with the Knee, but we
Suspect ligament damage.

CWJ. I heard you were making the trip to Portugal for the GP?

EBB. That was the plan but because of the knee we decided not to go. I am leading the Red Bull Pro Nationals so I need to see the specialist and rest up ready for Canada Heights.

CWJ. I have been watching all year and you seem to be very relaxed on your bike and have shown you have the speed to race at the very top.

EBB. Yeh i am very relaxed, the team has that way about it. They know what they have to do but go about it in a chilled but professional manner. I love riding the Honda and we have got the set up just right. Once we get rid of the bad luck we should be ok.

CWJ.Ok to ask some fun Questions?

EBB.Go for it.

CWJ. Do you ever get nervous or scared before a race?

EBB. No not really the adrenalin pumps on the start line and you sometimes think what am I doing here but as soon as the gate drops you do what comes naturally.

CWJ. What do you do in between races to keep focused?

EBB. I like to listen to my ipod, but most of all I like socializing with my friends and having fun, we are all mates at the end of the day and it’s good to have fun with your mates.

CWJ.What do you do in your spare time?

EBB. I like to chill out after race day.
BMX riding is great at the moment and I like to go BMX ing with my mates

CWJ. Who is your favorite rider?

EBB. Kevin Windham.

CWJ. What is your favorite track?

EBB. Matterley Basin.

CWJ. Have you ever been in a fight?

EBB. No

CWJ. Blonde or Brunette.

EBB. Brunette.

CWJ. Favorite food?

EBB. Pasta.

CWJ. Is winning better then sex?

EBB. Yes .

CWJ. You’re in second place and right on the leader’s rear wheel, would you take him out on the last corner for win?

EBB. I would go in hard as long as it was safe!

CWJ Thanks very much for taking the time to speak to Pulse. Good luck with the knee.

EBB Cheers Mate, no problem.

The third round of the ACU Maxxis British championship took place at Duns in Scotland at the week end.

In the MX1 class it was an overall win for the CAS Honda team with Evegeny Bobreshev taking the overall.

Bobreshev did not make it easy for himself and only qualified 12th in the super pole after he stalled the bike. As the race got under way it was PAR Honda rider Brad Anderson who took a fine win, Steven Sword was second riding the factory CCM and after a small mid race crash Bobreshev came home third.

Bobreshev’s misfortune in the opening moto left Brad Anderson’s army of fans elated with his first race maximum, but his day went downhill from there onwards, mainly due to poor starts. However, in a performance which enthralled the large crowd, his last race charge from 16th on lap one too eventually finish 6th in typical Ando fashion showed he has no intentions of relinquishing his title without a fight. Lap after lap he raced with Carl Nunn (MVR-D Suzuki), James Noble (Proppa.com Honda), Gareth Swanepoel (CAS Honda), his fellow PAR Homes rider who was definitely not under team orders, Scott Elderfield and Josh Coppins (Factory Aprilia). It was Elderfield and Coppins who gave him the most trouble and they swapped places lap after lap, especially with Anderson hanging off the back of the bike on more than one occasion, plus an enforced off the track excursion, but his 4th and 6th places to back up his opening moto win was enough for the lower step on the podium. He is now 33 points behind in the point’s standings as the series week break ahead of the next round at Lyng in Norfolk on June 13th.

In the MX2 class it was Zach Osborne who stole the show and took the overall win.
Martin Barr took second overall. Mattis Karro returned to the form that we would expect from the MVRD Suzuki rider, is this be the turning point of the season for the Latvian.
Elliot Banks-Browne riding the Pulse Racing/DB Racing Honda was struggling with a knee injury but still Managed 8th Overall and held on to 4th spot in the Championship. After speaking with EBB he has confirmed he is due to see a Specialist this week to determine the extent of the injury but they suspect Ligament damage. We all hope to him all guns blazing at the Red Bull Pro Nationals at Canada Heights on the 15th 16th May where he is leading the championship. See you there!

Pulse Racing Product up for grabs !!!
29/04/2010

Below is a report from our South African Distributor Phil Hulse on the recent Full Throttle South African Motocross Championship – Round 2 in Cape Town. Pulse Racing Products in conjuction with our South African counterpart provided product vouchers for the riders to race for. For anyone in South Africa interested in the Pulse Brand please don't hesitate to contact Phil at info@pulseracing.co.za

Perfect weather greeted the riders at Zone 7 in Cape Town for the 2nd round of the Full Throttle South African Motocross Championship on the 25th April. The track was well prepped and watered which would guarantee a great days racing and with a R1000 Pulse Racing Products voucher up for grabs for the holeshot in MX1, MX2 and Pro-mini the riders certainly weren’t going to hold back from the moment the gates dropped.

The first of the main classes to get underway was the MX2 class. The talent lining up at the gates for this race was frightening, with no less than ten riders realistically capable of taking the win. Moto 1 saw Damon Strydom (Team Red Yamaha) quickest out of the gates to take the Pulse Racing Holeshot prize, but his glory was short lived as local rider Enzo Grande (Orbis Racing) used his home track knowledge to sneak up the inside to take the lead on the first lap. The crowd was treated to some very close racing for the entire 20 minute moto with battles going on at the head of the pack. In the end it was Wyatt Avis (Bad Boy Honda) who took the moto win followed by Damon Strydom and reigning champion Richard van der Westhuizen (Full Throttle/Dirtstyle Suzuki). Moto 2 saw much of the same with Damon Strydom claiming the Pulse Racing Holeshot prize, but once again relinquished his advantage early on, this time to another local rider Anthony Reynard (Pelotrain/Race Nation Honda). Reynard rode a flawless race to win quite comfortably while the rest of the pack fought it out. Unfortunately for Richard van der Westhuizen, mechanical problems whilst in second place brought his race to a premature end, and with it the only real chance of Reynard being pushed for the win. At the chequered flag it was Reynard followed by Wesley de Jager (Team Red Yamaha) and Ross Branch (Bad Boy Honda) in third.

Overall Results:
1. Wesley de Jager (6-2)
2. Ross Branch (5-3)
3. Anthony Reynard (11-1)
4. Dewald van der Berg (8-4)
5. Enzo Grande (4-8)
6. Wyatt Avis (1-14)
7. Damon Strydom (2-12)
8. Kerim Fitzgerald (7-7)
9. Sacha Naude (9-6)
10. Brad Purchase (10-10)

Next up was the Pro-Mini class with the battle between the 85cc 2-strokes and 150cc 4-strokes sure to be fierce. With local favourite Calvin Vlaanderen (Pelotrain/Race Nation Honda) on the Honda CRF150 expected to dominate, it was rather the 2-stoke of Nicholas Adams (Alfie Cox Racing KTM) who claimed the Pulse Racing Holeshot prize, but soon relinquished his lead to Vlaanderen who went on the win moto 1 with ease. Adams held on to take second place with Matthew Malan (Ekerold Yamaha) taking third. Moto 2 saw the 4-stroke of Brandon Brydges (Honda Sandton) take the Holeshot prize but couldn’t hold onto the lead as Vlaanderen made his way to the front to take another easy moto victory. In second place it was once again Nicholas Adams with Damon Vlaanderen rounding out the top three.

Overall results:
1. Calvin Vlaanderen (1-1)
2. Nicholas Adams (2-2)
3. Damon Vlaanderen (4-3)
4. Matthew Malan (3-4)

With many of the MX2 riders returning to the gates on their 450cc machines to contest MX1, this too was guaranteed to be an entertaining class to watch. Moto 1 saw Merik Sparg (Bad Boy Honda) quickest out of the gates to claim the Pulse Racing Holeshot prize, but as with all the previous holeshot winners, couldn’t hold onto the lead for very long. Wyatt Avis (Bad Boy Honda) soon took over at the head of the pack and used all his international experience to hold on and take the moto victory despite riding with damaged ribs. Behind Avis, Ross Branch and Richard van der Westhuizen were fighting it out for the final two spots on the podium, with Branch holding on for second place at the finish. Moto 2 saw Kerim Fitzgerald take the holeshot prize with Van der Westhuizen and Branch hot on his tailpipe. These three, separated by just a second, lapped consistently and only a small mistake by one rider would give the others a chance. In the end Fitzgerald held on to take victory from Van der Westhuizen and Branch.

Overall Results:
1. Richard van der Westhuizen (3-2)
2. Ross Branch (2-3)
3. Kerim Fitzgerald (9-1)
4. Wyatt Avis (1-9)
5. Anthony Reynard (6-4)
6. Lloyd Vercueil (7-5)
7. Brad Purchase (5-8)
8. Wesley de Jager (8-6)
9. Merik Sparg (4-10)
10. Estefan Du Plessis (10-7)

A big crowd was thoroughly entertained by some great racing on the day and credit must go to the Cape Town Motocross Club for organizing a really good event.
Grand Prix of Netherlands at Valkenswaard

ANOTHER SUPER KID HITS THE MX2.

To the delight of the Dutch crowd 15 year old Jeffery Herlings became the second youngest rider ever to win a GP with two straight wins at Valkenswaard.

Caroli was one step ahead and took the honors in MX1.

The Red Bull KTM star won the first race from start to finish, and took the second race as well. Former world MX1 champion Teka Suzuki rider Steve Ramon took his 1st podium of the season with second overall, not bad considering this was the track where he injured himself last year. Watch out for Ramon because I reckon he is the dark horse of the championship.

Monster Yamaha mounted David Philippaerts was third overall with a fine second in race one and a fourth in race two, it should have been third but on the last lap he was taken by Tanel Leok.

Every one knew that in the MX2 class Herlings was going to be difficult to beat as he was on his home circuit in front of home fans. Herlings gave us all a lesson on how to ride sand and took two straight wins. Ken Roczen finished second in both motos and for the first time in his career has the Red Plate as championship leader. Shaun Simpson is well on the way to recovery and put in a fine third place finish in race one. Yet again Jake Nicholls was running with the big boys and had a great weekend finishing 14th overall on the day.

1.Antonio Cairoli.
2. David Philippaerts.
3. Steve Ramon.
4. Max Nagal.
5. Tanel Leok.

MX2 OVERALL.

Husqvarna prototype - Radical new 450 TC for 2011
27/04/2010
news_image
Husqvarna has taken a big step forward in the dirt bike market since being acquired by BMW. Up until now BMW main input has been financial with the application of the German’s purchasing power, marketing, production and refining techniques. For 2011 we may see a blend of the two manufacturers technical expertise for dirt bikes, with a prototype TC450 motocross machine. Husqvarna reports that the same platform will serve a TXC450 cross country and TE450 dual sport dirt bike.

It’s being called a 450/Open class machine, which may indicate the possibility for another big-bore machine, perhaps something along the lines of previous European open-classers like the 505/525/550. Just how close are the prototypes to being complete? Husky says the bike will be released later this year.
The new dirt bike uses BMW’s electric-start engine. Information is scarce, but looking at the photos reveals a dual-overhead cam, water-cooled, fuel-injected, 449cc 4-stroke tilted forward in what looks to be a steel chassis. Exhaust exits down the right side next to a fully adjustable Kayaba rear shock that connects via a linkage placed on top of the swingarm. This unconventional arrangement is definitely one of the most intriguing features. The swingarm pivot connects at the countershaft sprocket like the system BMW debuted on its G450X, meaning the chain tension will not change as the suspension compresses.

Other features include a fuel cell under the seat. Brembo brakes and wave rotors handle the stopping, and bodywork is minimal at best. The rear side panels and fender are so small they're almost trials-like. A Kayaba fork graces the front end.

Winrow takes 3rd with 4 wheels, Brown/Peters take 7th with 3 at sunny Langrish

For the first time ever in the UK the Langrish Motor Cycle Racing Club hosted round two of the European Quad Championship and the World Sidecar Championship.

They came to Langrish in their thousands and were treated to some red hot sunshine and even hotter racing.
As the gate dropped for the first Quad race it was Pulse Racing’s very own Paul Winrow that got the holeshot and led from lap one.Winrow led for three quarters of the race but made a couple of mistakes at the top end of the circuit allowing Frenchman Mathieu Ternynck to take the lead. Romain Couprie was charging through the field but that charge came to a stop when he could not find away past Winrow, at the flag it was Ternynck from Winrow with Couprie in third.
As the gate dropped for race two, the Brits were well placed but Romain Couprie was the leader as they dropped down into the valley. Mark Watson was well up with Winrow with team mate Jason Macbeth in hot pursuit. As the Brits were battling for Queen and Country it was Couprie that took the flag with Mathieu Ternynck in second and Watson finishing third. Winrow was fourth.
Race three was all about Mark Watson who gated second and with the huge crowd hanging over the fence willing him on stayed in that position across the line, behind Romain Couprie. Jan Vlaeymans was third. Paul Winrow was back in 8th spot but he had done enough to secure third place overall on the day.

Seven British chariots qualified on the Saturday for the Sunday Sidecar Grand Prix.
Again fasted British crew was the Pulse Racing supported team of Stuart Brown and Luke Peters.
After twelve years absence it was an awesome sight to see World Championship Sidecar Cross back at Langrish. As the gate dropped it was current world champions Joris Hendrix with passenger Kaspars Liepins that were leading around the first bend. Crew number seven Maris Rupeiks and Kaspars Stupelis were second with seven time world champ Daniel Williamson third, after much swapping and changing it was Maris Rupieks first ,Jan Hendrix cousin to Joris second with Daniel Williamson third. Stuart Brown and Luke Peters had to battle their way back to position twice after bad mistakes but crossed the line in 10th.

The second race started with three British crews inside the top fifth ten. But out in front was Joris Hendrix. The world champion commanded this race from the front. After a poor start Maris Rupieiks had worked his way up to second with Daniel Williamson in third.
Stuart Brown was tenth but by the end of the race and with the help of the British fans he finished eighth. Daniel and Joe Millard finished a fine eleventh.

It was a great weekend and I am now looking forward to the annual Ken hall Trophy Motocross on the August bank holiday weekend, see you there!

Dungey to join McGrath as 2nd rider to win Championship as a Rookie
20/04/2010
news_image
Rockstar/Makita Suzuki’s Ryan Dungey effectively laid claim to the 2010 AMA Supecross championship last Saturday night in St. Louis and will officially take the number one plate this weekend from Seattle’s Qwest Field.

In a night full of fireworks it was a showdown between the seasons two most dominant riders Dungey and Ryan Villopoto. Through 13 rounds, neither rider had battled head-to-head for the win despite capturing the top spot in 12 of the previous races. However Saturday night set the stage for a dramatic yet unfortunate main event. As both riders went bar-to-bar, Villopoto tried a hard pass that left both he and Dungey on the ground. Both riders remounted and Villopoto moved into the lead with Andrew Short and Dungey on his tail. Then, just two laps later after miscalculating a tough rhythm section Villopoto crashed violently in front of his title rival braking his leg in the process and ending his 2010 Monster Energy Supercross season.

Dungey’s win handed him a 77 point lead over third place Josh Hill and with only 75 points to play for in the final three races, Dungey’s lead is undefeatable.
When he officially wraps up the title at Qwest he will join legendary Jeremy McGrath as one of only two riders in history to capture the premier class championship as a rookie.

Top Riders get ready to Lock Horns - Red Bull Pro Nationals at Landrake
16/04/2010
news_image
Friday 16th April 2010 By Jeff Perrett

Round two of the Red Bull Pro Nationals head to Landrake Moto Parc next weekend (24/25th) for yet more awesome racing and entertainment. The series kicked off at the iconic Foxhill Moto Parc and witnessed some incredible bar banging racing.

With the Fuchs-Silkolene 2 Stroke British Championship and Red Bull Elite Youth Cup incorporated into the weekend there’s always more chance of great racing and value for money and no doubt Landrake will not disappoint.

Foxhill was blessed with great weather, just as Landrake was for the opening round of the series in 2009 and the MC Federation are hoping for much of the same once again now hopefully the rain that forced them to reschedule this event has passed. The Landrake circuit has dried out well and will produce great racing as it always does.

Plenty of effort has gone into the event by the Red Bull Pro Nationals team with promotion, some 400,000 fliers have been distributed to the local community and they have even made a TV commercial that has been aired all week in the region. There was a bumper crowd last year so it could swell to twice the size this year as the MCF drive to bring new interest into the sport. Of course the Live FMX tour will be back, along with the Suzuki MX experience for the public to have a shot at riding and there’s always the Red Bull Party and recorded race action on the big TV screen on Saturday night.

Red Bull Pro Nationals

In the MX1 class Brad Anderson starts as a firm favourite, as he does for most UK races these days! The PAR Honda rider is the current Red Bull Pro Nationals MX1 leader after a scintillating display at Foxhill even with a badly injured ankle and after taking both moto wins Anderson will be keen to keep the win streak going. But he’ll have some serious competition once again, notably from new Maxxis/Henderson/LPE Kawasaki signing Gert Krestinov who’ll be making his debut for the team. The young 19 year old Estonian has been drafted in to fill the void of the injured Jordan Rose who’ll now miss most of the season as he goes under the knife for another operation on his troublesome wrist. Krestinov won an MX2 GP at Lommel in 2008 so he certainly has the speed and it will great to see how he squares up to the rest of the top British stars.

2009 Red Bull Pro Nationals champion Carl Nunn (MVR-D Suzuki) has got off to a steady start and will keen to get his title defence gathering more steam and jump past the vacant Stephen Sword. Yamaha riders Jason Dougan (Phoenix Tools/Bike it/Cosworth) and American Ben Lamay (Samsung/Maxxis) round out the top five in the MX1 class and will be pushing for the podium. Last year’s runner up James Noble on his Proppa.com Honda hasn’t really got going yet this year but expect him to start turning that around at Landrake.

In the MX2 class Elliott Banks-Browne (DB Racing Honda) has every chance of leaving Landrake with the red plate as his good friend Jake Nicholls will be in Holland at the GP. The pair of them fought tooth and nail at Foxhill with Jake taking it on a tie breaker. Elliott will have stiff competition in the MX2 though and of course the MX2 riders also race with the MX1 class in two gruelling all star motos. Banks-Browne will have to bring his A game along to keep the rest of the MX2 class pegged back. PAR Honda’s Martin Barr looked strong at Foxhill riding with screws and plates in his cheekbone and now he’s healed up he’ll be strong. 2009 champion Neville Bradshaw is in fourth on his Samsung / Maxxis Yamaha and will want to get his title defence moving quicker and close the gap to the top. Kristian Whatley (Maxxis/Henderson/LPE Kawasaki) has got off to a steady start but will be looking to step it up. Bryan Mackenzie will also be a man on a mission and plenty to prove as he rolls out his privateer Kawasaki after the unfortunate circumstances at his Twisted 7 team.

Red Bull Elite Youth Cup

Foxhill proved that we have some great youth talent in UK motocross – without question. The racing was brilliant and the attitude of the kids showed the standard is getting higher all the time. The weekend battle between Lewis Trickett (Suzuki) and Bradley Pocock (Yamaha) was just brilliant and it looks like one that could rumble all year long. Trickett took the overall win but it could’ve been different if it wasn’t for Pocock’s bad fortune in the fourth moto. Samsung Maxxis Yamaha’s Sunny Thompson stepped up to the Rookie class with a solid performance and sits in third.

Ben Howell (KTM) got his season off to a flier in the Big Wheeled class after missing most of the off season with an injury to take the overall win at Foxhill with some solid riding ahead of last year’s Small Wheeled champion Ben Watson on his new HM Plant/ Red Bull KTM UK ride. It looked like it was going the distance until Watson took a major tumble in the fourth moto but that’s taking nothing away from Howell who was on it all weekend. James Harrison battled through the pain of a broken collarbone on his Twisted 7 Honda to get a well earned podium finish and put himself in the championship hunt.

Oliver Osmaston came out of the traps hot at the opening round to take the overall win in the Small Wheeled class on his Honda as he picked up three moto wins out of the five to lead the way going into Landrake. He’ll feel the heat from local Cornish hot shot Josh Gilbert though as he lies in second and will love to go one better in front of his friends and family on his KTM. Suzuki mounted Danny Lanfear was consistent and steady at Foxhill and looks like he has more to give going forward in the championship as he rounds up the top three.

The 65cc lads were on it as some of them launched over the huge tabletops at Foxhill. Albie Wilkie (KTM) was the man that went home with the series leader red plate to his name with some brilliant riding. It was all on the last moto though, which Wilkie won as Keenan Hird (KTM) pushed him all the way. Although Hird didn’t take the overall he was rewarded with the first Fox Boot camp award of the year and will be receiving a brand new set of Fox race kit at Landrake for his efforts. The final spot on the box went to the all action style if Ryan Vickers on his Cobra who looked super stylish as he floated over the huge jumps.

Fuchs-Silkolene 2 Stroke British Championship

The sound of 2 strokes blasting around Foxhill was great to hear and the racing was intense to say the least. James Noble riding his big Proppa.com Honda pipped David Willett on his Bladez Yamaha in the final Open moto by 0.07 of a second! And that sums up the action in the Fuchs-Silkolene 2 Stroke championship. Noble sits on top of the Open class with three straight moto wins and is followed by Stuart Edmonds on his TM 250 after a solid performance. Defending champion Mark Eastwood (Wiseco Honda) was on for second at Foxhill until he collided with a back marker and he’ll be keen to make up for that lost ground at Landrake. Daniel Ward leads the Junior Open class on his Suzuki ahead of Jason Kendrick and Joe Golding.

The racing in the 125 class is always cut and thrust and no doubt it will be again at Landrake. David Willett leads the way after coming back from missing most of last year with a knee injury. He looks strong and hard to beat. Defending champion Jim Davies (TM) lies in second and has got his title defence off to a good start and will be doing all he can to keep the pressure on Willett at the top. Young James Dunn is looking good mixing it with the older lads on his Suzuki and looks like he has the pace to grab a moto win. In the Juniors Charles Statt leads the way with three moto class wins on his Kawasaki ahead of Ryan Tomkins on his KTM. Ashley Crossley lies in third on Yamaha going into Landrake.

Gates open at 8.30am on both Saturday and Sunday with the action starting at 9am.

The Red Bull Pro Nationals and the Landrake Moto Parc will be heavily signposted with the AA road signs from the A38.

2010 Langrish World Sidecar & Quads

The Sidecar World Championship is back at Langrish this year, but this time with a twist.
The event is over the weekend of 17th/18th April 2010. After twelve years, the Sidecar World Championship circus returns to Manor Farm Langrish just outside of Petersfield, Hampshire. For the first time ever seen in this country the sidecars will be accompanied by the British round of the European Quad Championship. Two Pulse supported teams will be there looking for your support. In the sidecars Stuart brown and Luke Peters and the quads Paul Winrow.

Langrish, home of the annual Ken Hall Trophy moto-x is a natural circuit with steep hills and huge drop off jumps and set in the heart of Hampshire’s beautiful countryside.

The last Sidecar GP was held at Langrish in 1998 and was won by multi British champions Chris Etheridge and Gary Withers. That year the British sidecar fans were unbelievably loud, in actual fact the loudest I’ve ever heard at an event like this. In a post race interview Chris Etheridge said it was the noise from the fans that got him to the victory flag. Looking for your support this year is Stuart Brown and his passenger Luke Peters. Stuart and Luke are no strangers to podium finishes. But a win at langrish will be the ultimate! Daniel and Joe Millard who are Britain’s rising stars in the sport have already had two seasons on the GP circuit and will want to impress in what will be their first British round of the championship. Local hero Scot Wilkinson is making a return to the sport after trying solos for a year and is teamed up with David Kene. This pairing should be a crowd favourite.

This Event is run by the Langrish Moto Cycle Racing Club, that’s right a good old fashioned moto x club looking to bring good old fashioned racing and crowd
participation back into the sport.
This is one not to be missed. For all the information on the event please visit the clubs website www.langrishmx.com
The club would like to ask that anyone wanting a trade stand please contact
Ian Holdaway 07802188147.

Herlings steps up to the plate in Mantova

MX1

Antonio Cairoli did not have all his own way in Mantova. In moto one he had to chase home race winner Clement Desalle. Max Nagl was third with big Ken De Dycker in fourth. David Philippaerts was clearly unhappy when he had a one minute penalty for missing his rear silencer this meant the Italian only managed 19th place in moto one.

Moto two saw an awesome display from the heartthrob of the Italian crowd, as Cairoli dialed in his 350cc KTM and took victory, securing the overall. Cairoli now leads the championship by a slender one point from his KTM team mate Max Nagl. After a first race nightmare David Philippaerts took a well deserved second in moto two with Max Nagl third.

MX2
It was fifteen year old Dutchman Jeff Herlings that was on fire this weekend but no one had an answer for current champ Marvin Musquin, he took a fine moto one win with Ken Roczen second and Steven Frossard third.

Herlings led the second moto from the start but must have been gutted when, with only a few corners to go Musquin stole the lead and brought it home for win number two.
Herlings finished second with Roczen third.

Englishman Jake Nicholls was beaming after some superb starts and a great sixth place finish in moto two showed us that he can run top five and is well on the pace.

Bryan Mackenzie goes back to basics
08/04/2010
news_image
It is with great regret that the Pulse Racing / Golf and Bet.com / Twisted 7 team will no longer see Bryan Mackenzie racing a Husqvarna for the remainder of the season. With the economic climate as it is the team are struggling to put the finances in place to give Bryan what he needs to race at the highest level in British motocross and he has decided to go back to basics and support his racing effort himself riding a Kawasaki which he has bought as a privateer. It’s a mutual agreement and one that both Twisted 7 and Bryan accept but both parties will continue to look at ways of working together in the future such is their strong, long standing relationship.

The Twisted 7 team put a budget in place at the start of the year but have been put in a position where they can no longer invest into the remainder of the racing season due to lack of funds from a couple of their sponsors from outside the motocross industry following the economic downturn. This has obviously had a knock on affect to the team’s operations as team manager Jeff Perrett explains.

“Obviously I’m bitterly disappointed it has come to this. We started the season with a fresh impetus with Mike Carter at Husky Sport and Husqvarna on the new TC250. The lads made good progress and had a good time down in Spain and the testing went well. Bryan was feeling confident going into the ultra competitive MX2 class with the bike and all of our brilliant long term sponsors continued with us, like Madison, DVS, and Gaerne to name a few and of course Pulse Racing and I have no doubt they still will as we look to overcome this problem. Unfortunately the promised flow of money into the team has dried up for reasons out of our control and I’m no longer in a position to subsidise the team going forward. I’ve put my hand in my own pocket every year since the concept of the team but I’m no longer in a position to do that and with my work with the MC Federation and the Red Bull Pro Nationals increasing all the time due to their success it’s becoming increasingly difficult to focus on Twisted 7. Bringing in financial sponsors from outside the industry and running a professional race team is a full time job. We could no longer support Bryan properly or his mechanic Bryan Connolly and it became a chore for us all so Bryan and BC want to get back to the basics and do their own thing and have fun without the pressure. I can understand that. They’re now both back to working regular jobs to fund their racing. Obviously we are now looking at ways to continue working with Bryan because he’s as much of the spirit of Twisted 7 as I am, after all we started the team together. We are also looking at how we go forward with Matt Fleming and Jonas Algotsson. I cannot thank Mike Carter of Husqvarna / Husky Sport enough for giving us the chance to go racing and he’s been every bit true to his word and we will now sit down and work out where we go from here but the brutal facts are you cannot race at high level British motocross without the finances in place. We have the equipment but not the money to grow, test and develop. We’ve excelled ourselves for five years and that’s something I’m very proud of, now we have to look at sensible ways for Twisted 7 to continue, which I’m sure we will.”

Bryan himself had this to say to on whole situation. "Unfortunately Twisted 7, through no fault of their own, have been let down massively by an outside sponsor and the knock on effect of that has been catastrophic to the team. It really sucks as this year was shaping up to be one of the best ever for all the guys involved in what we called our 'operation'. All of our other sponsors have been great and gone beyond their call of duty to try make up for the short fall but it has got to a point now where it just wasn't fair any more so regrettably BC and I have decided to do our own thing and enjoy it for what it is. I would like to thank everyone at the team though for their help, Jim and Justin at Pulse racing, Mike Carter from Husky Sport and especially Rad Ad, Carly at Gaerne and our loyal sponsors who have supported us this year and I wish Jeff, Dan and everyone at Twisted 7 a successful rest of the season."
Mike Carter commented “This has come as a great shock and disappointment to us, as in the short time we were working with the Twisted 7 Team we have come to appreciate the efforts and enthusiasm they have all put in. The two Bryans’ have been brilliant in their time on our new TC250 X-Lite and we will be sorry to see them depart. However, we are mindful of the harsh economic times we are all operating in; and I know this has been a sad financial decision for the team and Bryan. I feel sure with Jeff and Dan’s enthusiasm for the sport that the Twisted 7 Team will continue in some form, albeit in a smaller capacity or different formula and we would be very happy to try to support them in any way possible. And of course on a personal level I wish the two Bryans’ every success.”
The Pulse Racing / Golf and Bet.com / Twisted 7 team will now look at how to move forward with Husky Sport and their remaining riders for the remainder of the season and their next race which will be the Red Bull Pro Nationals at Landrake, Cornwall on the 24/25th April.

World's Best Motocrossers Challenge U.S. Racers On Their Home Turf

Glen Helen, CA -
The best motocross racers in the world will be coming to Southern California's Glen Helen Raceway to contest the sixth round of the MX1 World Championship on May 29-30th. This event also marks the return of the historic U.S. Grand Prix (USGP) concept of pitting America's best against the world!

Tickets go on sale Friday, April 9th, for the "Race of the Century" as the event is being billed. Co-promoted by Bud Feldkamp, president of Glen Helen Raceway, and Giuseppe Luongo, president of Youthstream, the USGP at Glen Helen recreates a slice of history.

Last contested at Glen Helen back in 1992, the return of the USGP to Southern California is a fitting tribute to the 30th anniversary of an American first winning the USGP at the old Carlsbad track when a hometown hero Marty Moates piloted his privateer LOP Yamaha to victory. Feldkamp is one of those who remembers what a monumental achievement it was and hopes to recreate that magic. "It has been a life-long dream of mine and the staff to have this extraordinary World Championship event at Glen Helen. This will give motocross fans across the U.S. an opportunity to see our top American riders compete against the MX champions from around the world on U.S. soil."

On April 9th tickets become available at the Glen Helen website www.glenhelen.com as well as at participating local Yamaha dealers. Reserved camping will also go on sale April 9, 2010 at $50 per spot.
Grand Prix opener in Bulgaria
06/04/2010
news_image
Max Nagl and Marvin Musquin the Red Bull KTM Factory riders brought the 2010 Grand Prix season in with a bang racing to victory at the super fast Sevlievo circuit in their respective classes at the Grand Prix of Bulgaria this weekend.
Nagl finished 1-2 in the MX1 class, leading home team mate Antonio Cairoli the World MX1 Champ who was making his GP debut on the new 350cc machine which appeared to struggle a bit against the bigger 450cc machines.

Third in the MX1 class was Rockstar Teka Suzuki rider Clement Desalle with 3-5 scores.
In MX2 it was Musquin, Ken Roczen and Jeffrey Herlings that battled it out. Musquin though used his greater experience to come home ahead of 15 year old Roczen while Herlings eventually finished fourth behind Frossard on the Pro Circuit Kawasaki.

Musquin who has just signed a deal to race the FIM World Supercross for 2011 scored 1-1 results, Roczen went 2-2 and Frossard scored 3-4 scores.
While Musquin walked away with the opening race behind him Roczen rode a steady 20 laps, finishing 12 seconds behind Musquin, while third placed rider Steve Frossard came in another 51 seconds behind the German.

As they had done in the qualifier Musquin and Roczen were in a class of their own, in fact both nearly lapped up to tenth place. Arnaud Tonus came home in fourth, followed by Jeremy Van Horebeek, Herlings, Shaun Simpson, Zach Osborne, Joel Roelants and Jake Nicholls.

The second MX2 moto was a carbon copy of race one, once again it was Musquin, Roczen and Herlings who led the field around the first corner. Roczen made a small error, slipped and went down in a left hander, while Musquin pushed ahead of Herlings.
Herlings held second for a few more laps until Roczen came back and passed the Dutchman. Tonus and Frossard battled it out for the final step on the podium with Frossard making the decisive move with a handful of laps to go. Musquin won seven seconds ahead of Roczen with Herlings in third.

Nagl made the first MX1 moto look easy, the German rider pushed on early and was never again seen by his competition. Philippaerts came in a distant second then another two or three seconds back was third place Desalle.
Defending Champ Cairoli had a what appeared to be a good start but lost momentum in the first corner, dropping back to around 9th place before fighting up to fifth place mid race, a position he would hold until the end.

In the second MX1 moto and it was Nagl again who led early leaving Philippaerts and Cairoli battling for second and third positions, Desalle held fourth, Pourcel fifth and Ramon fifth.
Nagl looked like he might run away with another win from Cairoli but the Italian had his own ideas and battled back till he was on the rear wheel of the German and as the pair charged up a hill section Cairoli took a different line and leapt ahead of the German into the lead. It was pure Cairoli magic.
Further back Desalle and Ramon were competing for fourth and fifth places, then Philippaerts crashed and the two Suzuki riders moved up a place. In the end it was Cairoli who won from Nagl and Ramon.

Tonymoto appeal
01/04/2010
news_image
It appears the Tonymoto appeal that we’d all forgotten about has been trickling along quite nicely, and is now reaching a head. There have been a fair few developments of late, not all of which I’m 100% sure on, but the long and short of it is Tony needs our support once again. From what I’ve heard, we’re in with a very good chance of getting this place re-opened, and my sources are very confident.

There is no website to post on this time round, so please send your e-mails of support to - teamp2@pins.gsi.gov.uk

Please please please keep your messages positive and to the point, i.e. no slagging of the opposition and/or immature comments, we really need to keep this above board. The same applies to this thread; I have it on good authority the opposition trawl adtrip on a regular basis, playing on posts made by users to enhance their case against.

With this said, all I want to see posted in this thread is confirmation that you’ve sent your e-mail of support, and nothing else. All messages have to be sent by March 30th, so we don’t have long.

Get cracking then!

MAXXIS British Championship Rolls into Mallory
24/03/2010
news_image
The ACU had put together a great international entry for the the second round of the Maxxis MX championship at Mallory this year. In the MX1 ex-world champion Mickael Pichon and in MX2 young Ken Roczen and his team mate Arnaud Tonas had made the trip so race fans were in for a treat.

First race of the day was the MX2 boys. The rain had fallen all night which left the track very boggy with deep ruts in the turns and on lead up to the huge jumps. As the gate dropped first rider into the first turn was Jake Nicholls with Zach Osbourne, Elliot Banks Brown and Ken Roczen hot on his heels. EBB then hit the front and was riding very smooth. Mid distance in the race Ken Roczen took the lead and brought it home for the win. The young 15 year old superstar really was a pleasure to watch. Race two and Roczen got off to a bad start almost going down in the first turn but battled is way to second and was chasing race leader Zach Osbourne. Osbourne tried to hold off the youngster but soon Roczen hit the front and become a formidable force. Ken Roczen took the checkered flag with second going to Arnaud Tonas and third for Zach Osbourne. EBB had ridden well all day but bad luck struck in race three with what looked to be a seized engine.

In MX1 it was young Scott Elderfield that stole the show .With no certainty to what size machine he would be riding, he turned up on the start line of the MX1 class and immediately showed us that he has got to be the best young talent around. In race one Brad Anderson went down in the first turn and it was Gareth Swanepoel in the lead with his team mate Evegeny Borbryshev second and the flying Elderfield third. Elderfeild showed class throughout the race and passed Bobryshev to finish a fine second. In the second Moto the CAS Honda riders were one and two with Brad Anderson in third, and Elderfield was fifth behind French hero Mickael Pichon. In the last race of the day, as the crowd started to dwindle away the MX1 riders took the start. As the track became tough it was the experience that shone through as ex-world champion Mickael Pichon gave us a master class in riding rough rutted tracks to take a fine win. CCM rider Steven Sword was second with Scott Elderfeild third.

Red Bull strike one

A real festival of fun is what we were promised and that is exactly what we got at foxhills at the weekend. It started with the stars of tomorrow, the Red Bull Elite Youth championship. The youth riders showed that they are just as capable of putting on a great show as the adults. It really was fantastic to see these youth riders flying high and long around the legendary fox hill circuit.

In the Fuchs Silkolene 2 Stroke championship it was James Noble barking his modified Honda CR500 up the long hills that stole the show in the open expert class. Iron Man David Willet stormed to overall in the 125 expert races.

To add to the excitement on the track there was the freestyle show, huge TV screen showing live lap times and footage of the days racing. In the evening the red bull party kicked off with pumping tunes from the impressive armed truck pimped up as a huge sound machine.

After a long night partying it was pro time and almost all of the countries top stars were there. Brad Anderson took the overall in the MX1 Class in his bid to take double honours with Maxxis and Red Bull titles in 2010.

HM Plant Red Bull KTM rider Jake Nicholls carried on the winning streak of late with the win in the MX2 class.

There were no official overall results available at time of going to print.

ON THE UP!

Afternoon all! Sorry for the delay, pretty manic with all my Red Bull Pro Nationals media work, have to focus on that or I’ll get fired. Of course the flipside of that would be I can then concentrate on the team full time! Always be positive eh?!

I’ll keep this as short as I can. The first round of the Red Bull Pro Nationals was another positive step forward for us after the problems of the first Maxxis round. Bryan ‘Irn-Bry’ Mackenzie finished 10th overall in the ultra competitive MX2 class. After a hard fought 12th in the opening moto Bry was feeling rough with a proper bout of man flu! But he dug deep and came out battling with last year’s Red Bull Pro Nationals champion Neville Bradshaw and Suzuki’s Matiss Karro for the best part of moto 2 for a 7th place finish. We’re continuing to work on the development of this exciting, new little Husqvarna TC250 and improving all the time so things are moving in the right direction for sure.

Young Matty Fleming’s weekend got off badly when he nailed a rider at speed who crashed in front of him. Matt banged himself up pretty bad but being a tough little so and so he didn’t whinge and just got on and rode through the pain. Which was more than the other guy, to be fair Matty finished him off when he hit him! But we heard he’s okay. We had to rebuild his bike after that first race DNF as it was pretty totalled but he stuck at it and ended up 15th overall in the Rookie class at the end of the weekend. The target next time out is a top 10 for Matty in the Red Bull Elite Youth Cup.

Our big MX1 support pilot Jonas Algotsson got his first taste of the famous Foxhill circuit and enjoyed the experience, although he did admit to never really riding anything quite like it! Again Jonas is getting better all the time and starting to adapt to the big TC450. He came in 12 overall in the MX1 class which will do his confidence a power of good. Our other support Greg Fisher made it in the race after initially only being a reserve. He squeezed an 18th in moto #2 to get his first Red Bull Pro Nationals results, so he was pleased with that.

So now, it’s back to work and keep improving and going forward and getting ready for the second round of the Maxxis British championship this weekend at Mallory Park. It’s early days with our project with Husqvarna and this weekend was a rewarding and positive step forward, long may that continue.

Thanks for your support. Catch up with you all next week – hopefully with more positive news. Have a good week.

Ten Thousand Loyal fans turned out to watch the UK’s first major international MX of the year. It was the Teka Suzuki boys that showed the fans how it is done.

At only fifteen years old it was Ken Roczen that showed maturity and a great turn of speed taking two race wins. He is really proving that he is world class and is a real contender for the MX2 crown. Second overall in MX2 was the former junior world champion and a real master in the sand Dennis Verbruggen. Dennis showed that he has what it takes and launched his adult career with a fine display of sand racing at the legendary Hawkstone circuit. Also worth a mention a fine third place overall went to HM Plant Red Bull KTM UK star Jake Nicholls.

In the MX1 Steve Ramon showed that he is probably one of the smoothest riders on the GP Circuit and fought of the challenge from the Estonian Express Tanel Leok and Max Nagal. Tanel Leok took the runner up spot due to his better second race result with Max Nagel bringing the bike home for third.

On a separate note we wish riders Shaun Simpson, Wayne Smith, Brad Anderson and Ray Rawson speedy recoveries who all suffered injuries on the day.

Maxxis British Championship Round 1
02/03/2010
news_image
The first round of the Maxxis British Championships started in fine style at Little Silver in Devon. Although muddy and very rough with deep, deep ruts the racing as expected was fast
and furious where only the riders with true grit and determination were going to be in front.

The man with the most grit in the MX1 class was PAR Homes rider and current British MX1champion, “Bad” Brad Anderson. Brad took the overall win but had to fight hard for it
as the CAS Honda riders of Evgeny Borbryshev and Gareth Swanepoel managed to steal a
race win each from the reigning champ.

It was Borbryshev that stunned everyone with a superb race win in the opening moto. The Russian certainly landed on English soil with a bang .Pascal Leuret took second, with Ray Rawson on the second PAR Honda in third.

Honda dominated the second moto with Anderson taking the win, Borbryshev second and Swanepoel third. A notable ride in fourth place was the current British MX2 champ Steven Sword riding the new Build base CCM.

In race three CCM spoilt the Honda dominance. Swanepoel took the win but Tom Church took second with Steven Sword in third. But man of the day had to go to Anderson who put in consistent and gritty rides to take the overall.

In the MX2 Class it was the young Irish lad Graeme Irwin riding out of the HM Plant Red Bull KTM UK awning that showed he has had been working hard over the winter by taking the win in moto one. Elliot Banks Brown riding a DB Racing Honda was second and PAR homes new MX2 signing Martin Barr brought the Honda home for Third.

It the immaculately turned out Bike it –Cosworth Yamaha that stole the show in race two, with what looked like a finely dialed athlete in Zach Osborne on board. Zach looked in great shape both physically and mentally on board the Yam. Championship favorite Jake Nicholls was second with Kristian Whatley Third.

In race three it was Osborne from Nicholls but this time in third Martin Barr.
Overall the lap times were slightly quicker from the MX2 class then the MX1.
Which suggest that the little silver circuit suited the smaller bike?

In the WMX class it was KTM UK rider Natalie Kane that took both wins, with a huge gap
of a minute or so before Ellen De Winter came in second and a cool ride from Daniel Hipgrave
secured third.

OFF, BUT NOT QUITE RUNNING AT LITTLE SILVER!

Well, being towed into the circuit wasn’t a great start for the new team, nor was trying to put up our shiny new awning without getting it dirty – especially as it was our first time of trying. Oh, there was some colourful language with that one. But, hey-ho, it was the same for every other team, well not with the awning but certainly with the conditions.

With the awning up and the new race truck looking snazzy the lads were relaxed as they put on the new MXM bike graphics, we were all just happy to be at the races. If the race truck looks great then the bikes look amazing, so thanks once again team MXM for the graphics, awesome job. And thanks to you all for getting us there in the first place.

After a night of heavy rain and one lap of practice the bikes didn’t looks so good and nor did the kit as the riders slid around the circuit getting covered in mud. It was mixed fortunes for us in qualifying. Bry Mac made it into the superpole but made a complete hash of the first quarter of the lap, he got it together for the rest of his lap and came home 10th. Not bad at for his first outing and still riding the stock bike. Matty slid off just before timing started and couldn’t get the bike fired up and missed the entire qualifying window – we’ll put that down to a rookie error! Support rider Greg Fisher struggled to find his groove – literally - and propped up the field. Fellow support rider Jonas Algotsson was 26th in the MX1 class.

Mackenzie got a good jump in the first race but then eager to get to the front early made a small mistake and dropped back. It was the first of three small crashed that would see him come in 15th. Young 15 year old Matt was welcomed to the big leagues with a first turn crash that ended his race after 200 yards! But he wasn’t down on it and remained positive.

Race two didn’t fare much better for the team. Mackenzie was battling with Samsung Yamaha’s Neville Bradshaw in the top 10 when the bike stopped in the corner and wouldn’t restart. Matty registered his first Maxxis British championship result with a 28th.

Mackenzie was forced to go out on an untested TC250 in the final race. Due to the terrible weather of late we were unable to test some new settings on the spare bike and we had to run with it, unfortunately they were not as good as we’d of liked! After a poor start Bryan rode his heart out to come through to 15th in the race and 15th overall on the day. Not an ideal start to the championship for a rider of Bry’s calibre but not a complete disaster either and we know things will improve for sure. Matty couldn’t improve on his 28th and came in 30th with a badly cut hand but he was determined to finish. The lad has grit and I was pleased at his age that he never dropped his head on his first race with the big boys. Greg and Jonas also battled on all day but failed to score any points, but go away knowing there’s work to be done and seemed positive about the next race.

It was certainly hard going but we cannot be too down. The season is long and as I write this now, we are already on the case with improving things for next time out and I haven’t even had my second cup of coffee. Thanks so much for all of your support and help just getting us to the first race. Hopefully the weather and fortunes will improve next time out at the first Red Bull Pro Nationals at Foxhill on the 13/14th March!

Hi Ho Silver - Brit MX Kicks Off

THE 2010 Maxxis ACU British Motocross Championship jumps into action this Sunday February 28th at the dramatic Little Silver circuit in Devon with a host of exciting new rules and top British and GP riders going for glory.

The Little Silver circuit offers all round viewing and is situated within sight of Junction 31 of the M5 Motorway near Exeter. Top GP riders include, Zach Osbourne, Tom Church, Stephen Sword, Mattis Karro, Jake Nicholls, Gareth Swanepoel, Evgeny Bobreshev, Graeme Irwin and Pascal Lauret, who will be supported by all the top UK riders, including defending MX1 Champion Brad Anderson.

And the racing will be intense with a Superpole F1/World Superbike style qualifying session sorting the start gate and then three quick-fire 20-minute races for both the MX1 and MX2 classes, giving the crowds plenty to get excited about.

The circuit at Little Silver is ready for the action as well, with many of the banners already erected and only the finishing touches to be made. Despite recent rain the hillside track is extremely dry and the fact that it was "sealed" has made it in prime condition. The gritty, sand based circuit will be left sealed until very late in the week. Once the weather forecasters are confident of a dry weekend it will be ripped and harrowed. If a wet weekend is forecast it will be left as hardpack.

Clerk of the Course, Si Higgins, commented "The whole team have worked well and we are ahead of schedule. The crowd control barriers for the extra spectator area on the hillside will arrive today (Monday) and we could race on Tuesday, that's thanks to the help from the team at Little Silver. I am confident of some good racing on Sunday, especially with the quality of the entry in all classes."

The first race will commence at 12.15pm, whilst early arrivals can watch the free Practise and Timed Qualifying from 9am at no extra charge.Tickets on the gate cost £20 for adults with under 14s £5. For further details and to keep up-to-date with the action and the eight-round series visit www.mxgb.co.uk.

After many long stressful drawn out nights, PAR HONDA are proud to announce that they have signed Martin Barr for 2010.

In the mx1 class the The main PAR HOMES man, 'Bad' Brad Anderson has just returned from America where he has been hard at it practising and training in order to defend his crown. Not only has he been training but rumour has it, that he has been racing and has beaten one of the Alessi brothers. Bring it on Brad!

Don’t forget the fifth member of the team Ray Rawson, who in my book, is the man that Brad Has got to look out for. He is chomping at the bit and ready to go! Roll on little silver.

Pulse Racing seals the deal as Title sponsor to Official Husqvarna Team

Twisted 7 to set Pulses racing in 2010? You bet!

Its great to see Husqvarna making a big step back into British motocross in 2010. Three Husky teams will be gracing the British paddock and one of them being the new look Twisted 7 squad, now officially known as “Pulse Racing / Golf and bet.com Husqvarna.” And better still Jeff Perrett has brought in a brand new outside the industry sponsor in Golf and bet.com – good work.

It’s a major change for the Twisted 7 mx team for 2010 as the team is pleased to announce they will be an officially supported UK Husqvarna team next year, with not just one new title sponsor but two! The team’s new official name is Pulse Racing / Golf and bet.com Husqvarna.

Long standing Twisted 7 rider Bryan Mackenzie returns after his sabbatical from the team after he took an opportunity given to him by CAS Honda to follow a lifetime ambition to race GP’s. And now with “a few things ticked off the list” as he puts it, a confident

Mackenzie is looking forward to the new challenge as he steps down to the MX2 class on the new Husqvarna 250TC. He will be joined by four other team members for 2010 on the new look team. 15 year old Mathew Fleming joins up as a hot prospect and certainly one for the future. Greg Fisher will stay on board competing alongside Bryan and Mathew in the MX2 class with Andreas Johansson making up the four man assault in that class. Fellow Swedish rider Jonas Algotsson will be the team’s only MX1 entrant in his first year in British motocross.

The strong Anglo-Swedish connection continues in form of the title sponsorship of the team as Golf and Bet.com are a Swedish betting company who have recently opened offices in London and will be taking bets on UK and World motocross. They have teamed up with Pulse Racing and Twisted 7 to put a great team package together, something Pulse Racing’s Jim Peters and Justin Green are really pleased to be part of. “We’ve been supporting Twisted 7 from their outset back in 2005 and we can see the effort they’ve put in on a very small budget but they have always delivered the goods when it comes to professionalism. Their image is great, they work hard and they have built a solid foundation and stayed around in the scene where others have been and gone. They now want to build on that and progress and so do we as a brand and we see this a great opportunity for us both” believes Jim.

The Pulse Racing / Golf and Bet.com Husqvarna team will be competing in the Red Bull Pro Nationals and Maxxis British championship as they focus on the strong domestic scene, something Husqvarna importer Mike Carter of Husky Sport UK is delighted about. “This is a positive step forward for Husqvarna and we’d also like to think it is for the Twisted 7 team. The team have shown they have the potential to grow into a major force in the British scene and they have put together a solid team with some good support from some great brands. We’re in a strong position to grow together and put a package in place that will hopefully see us in the running for championships in the near future. This is a new era for Husqvarna and we’re pleased to have a team on board that mirror our ambition going forward” reckons Mike.

Twisted 7 owner and team manager Jeff Perrett is also buzzing with anticipation. “I’m just very proud of where we are at. Running a race team is tough, especially when it hasn’t been a full time job for any of us and a recession has bitten like it has, but we have weathered the storm and built a solid foundation. I always said I’d give the team five years and see where we were at and make my decision then and I’m so pleased that we are in a position to really push on and become a major team in the paddock. Especially now we are working with Husqvarna who are really getting behind us and giving us the technical support that you need to be competitive at the high end. The lads were all really impressed with the bike after testing it and that made it a no brainer really. Obviously it’s great to have the guys at Pulse Racing invest into the team and also have a company like Golf and Bet.com get involved, it will be exciting for them both as it’s the first time either of them have been a title sponsor of a British mx team. We also have continued support from the likes of Thor, Asterisk and Ogio from Madison.co.uk. Animal clothing and Muc-Off look set to continue their long standing relationship and DVS skateshoes are even making a signature Twisted 7 shoe for 2010, which suits our image perfectly as I’d like to think we are a young, in touch and approachable team that races motocross for all the right reasons – because we absolutely love it. We have a new oil sponsor in Motul and things are coming together well. Next year we’ll be running more training schools too, as we did this year with Ryan Hughes and all of our sponsors will be involved with them and we will also be supporting youth riders like James Harrison for example. Although he’s not able to race a Husqvarna as they don’t make an 85cc yet we will support him in the big wheeled class as a satellite rider and look to draft him into the main team for 2011 on a Husqvarna. Obviously it’s great to have Brymac back on board after his little ‘holiday’ as we started the team together and have become strong friends, he has a confidence about him I haven’t seen before and we’re all 100% focused on the job in hand. It’s exciting and feels like a rebirth, now the goals that I set for this team seem more realistic and reachable. I’m positive we’ll be a major force in UK motocross and that’s where we want to be, going for championships. I’d like to thank all the sponsors, friends and family that have got us this far, here’s to another five years and more!”
